Senior Cap and Gown Pictures

Senior Cap and Gown Pictures will be Friday, February 6.  Any senior interested in having their picture made should see Mrs. Houmard in room 501 for more information and to schedule an appointment.

Caps and Gowns will be provided.


Starting Tuesday, January 20, 2015, BHS/IB/Summerlin will offer tutoring in the media center at starting 2:15 until 4:15. Students can receive help in Math, Language arts, Social Sciences and languages.

Don’t let your grades suffer because you need help! Get it at the media center starting next week.

The HBCU Jump Off

The Historical Black Colleges and Universities, titled: The HBCU Jump Off, is an annual educational program that provide scholarships for students in need.

In 2014, the Educational Program – The HBCU Jump Off awarded over $200, 000.00 worth of scholarships to deserving students to better assist them to step toward their educational dreams and goals, and that was attending an Institution of Higher Education. Because of that success, the community’s expectations are high for the January 31, 2015 -The HBCU Jump Off.

The 2015 – Jump Off will feature presentations by admission representatives from Florida’s four HBCU’s:

  •  Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, commonly known as Florida A&M University
  • Bethune-Cookman University
  • Edward Waters College
  • Florida Memorial University

In addition, information will be provided on the financial aid application process, Writing Winning College Essays and the Importance of Maintaining an Electronic-Portfolio.

The HBCU’s will be accepting students on the spot. All interested students will need to bring a completed application, American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) test scores, and official high school transcripts in a sealed envelope if they wish to be admitted on the spot.

Promptly at 8:00am a delicious hot breakfast will be served before the educational fun begins.

Seminar- "What Juniors Need to Know"

Selective College Consulting is presenting a series of FREE seminars explaining “What Juniors Need to Know” to set them up for the best possible college results.
On January 27 at 6:30 pm @ Lakeland Christian School in Lakeland, we’ll explain the role of SAT’s, ACT’s and Subject Tests in the college admissions process, how to get the highest possible scores, when to take the tests and when NOT to take the tests; the role of recommendations from teachers, counselors, coaches and mentors, and how to maximize their impact; plus what’s in college applications, how to look at the applications in the way that admissions reps do, and how to craft effective essays.

NHS Tutoring available

National Honor Society tutoring will take place every Monday and Wednesday at 2:15 in Rm. 02-007. Students will be provided with help in all subject areas.
